Rhinoplasty
A rhinoplasty is a procedure designed to reshape the nose. People seek rhinoplasty for several reasons. Some are unhappy with bumps or irregularities of the dorsum of the nose. Others feel that their nose is too wide of large for their face. For still others, they are unhappy with the tip of the nose, and feel that it may be too bulbous or boxy, or droop downward too much. Whatever the reasons may be, visit Dr. Mitchell for a free consultation to see if rhinoplasty may be right for you.
Rhinoplasty is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia. Incisions are made within the nostrils as well as a single, small incision across the columella, the skin that lies underneath your nose between your nostrils. Through these incisions, the nasal skin is elevated and the underlying cartilage and bone is exposed. From here, Dr. Mitchell uses a variety of techniques to alter and reshape this nasal framework in order to produce the results you desire.
Recovery takes approximately two to three weeks. A lightweight splint is applied after surgery to protect the new shape, this is removed within a week, along with external sutures along the columella. Swelling and bruising around the eyes may be present, however typically resolves within a few weeks.
